(i think just the fact that everything is all listed in one place makes it seems like a lot but i know for a fact that i have a below average quantity of belongings. like probably over 95% of everything i own has a unique purpose and i’m very anal about not keeping or getting things that aren’t useful to me. things that i buy for personal pleasure that are redundant by purpose must be consumables. i think i actually have listed almost all of what i own on this page, in fact. anything else is just food, my violin, some books, glassware, two kitchen appliances, shoes…

i would never want to have so many things or be such a mess that i can just forget that i have something or not know whether or not i have something; it has to be kept simple enough such that i can pretty easily and reliably keep track of inventory flow with just my memory and no particular record-keeping system. i think generally i tend to try to live by that: keep things as simple and no frills as is comfortable and possible to minimize the mental load of maintenance--optimize the system by cleaning data frequently and freeing up memory, which enables more reliance on processing power but also minimizes total processing and memory demands. people’s internals (memory capacity : processing speed ratio especially) work differently and this is what my internals seem to like the most. quite a long and very relevant side note!)

(i like being able to pack most of if not everything up in a carry-on; got rid of everything extra a few years ago and have kept my closet smal sincel. it’s easy to do when you don’t have many responsibilities xD. i am prone to leaving jewelry wherever i stay and have decided it’s not worth the extra care.)
